Innovate UK announce 16 projects to strengthen the UK supply chain of critical materials

Hirst is pleased to participate in a project announced on the 11.9.23 by Innovate UK (as part of the 40 UK organisations working on 16 innovation projects benefiting  a £6.6 million investment in research projects which aim to help build a stronger supply chain of the critical minerals we rely on everyday. 

The Critical Materials for Magnets Competition is part of the circular critical materials supply chains (CLIMATES) programme. The CLIMATES programme, announced in February, committed £15 million of government funding for cutting-edge research to strengthen the supply of critical materials.

The project is a feasibility study between Magnetic Systems Technology Ltd, the project lead and Hirst Magnetic Instruments Ltd and focuses on the recovery and reuse of magnets from electric vehicles.
